It is named after the edelweiss, a white flower found high in the Alps. It was created for the 1959 Broadway production of The Sound of Music in the role originated by performer Theodore Bikel as a song for the character of Captain Georg Ludwig von Trapp. In the musical Captain von Trapp and his family sing this song during the concert near the end of Act II as a statement of Austrian patriotism in the face of the pressure put upon him to join the navy of Nazi Germany following the Anschluss. It is also Captain von Trapps subliminal goodbye to his beloved homeland, using the flower as a symbol of his loyalty to Austria. In the 1965 film adaptation, the song is also sung by the Captain earlier in the film as he rediscovers music and a love for his children. The great popularity of the song has led many of its audience to believe that it is an Austrian folk song or even the official national anthem. Thirty years later Edelweiss was widely believed to be an old Austrian song, though Oscar... composed it for the Sound of Music. https://youtube/watch?v=zBTXZowjRv0 Voice Solo by Faye Monteiro, accompanied by Gisela Pereira https://youtube/watch?v=lI1P-hYUWHE D Major by Vivaldi https://youtube/watch?v=jzgwK6flcvU Saxaphone Ensemble: The saxophone (also referred to as the sax) is a family of woodwind instruments. Saxophones are usually made of brass and played with a single-reed mouthpiece similar to that of the clarinet. The saxophone family was invented by the Belgian instrument maker Adolphe Sax in 1840. Sax wanted to create a group or series of instruments that would be the most powerful and vocal of the woodwinds, and the most adaptive of the brass -- that would fill the vacant middle ground between the two sections. https://youtube/watch?v=vMbs96cvnmo On the guitar https://youtube/watch?v=VQWv7qkto10 Minuet in A (Boccherini): Luigi Rodolfo Boccherini[1] (February 19, 1743 – May 28, 1805) was an Italian classical era composer and cellist whose music retained a courtly and galante style while he matured somewhat apart from the major European musical centers. https://youtube/watch?v=xkIIOgTQ35M Students - Love Changes Everything: Love Changes Everything is a song from the musical Aspects of Love, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with lyrics written by Charles Hart and Don Black. https://youtube/watch?v=rKXIueyLlGc ENCOUNTER more of Goa at youtube/user/fredericknoronha1 youtube/user/fredericknoronha -- P +91-832-2409490 M +91-9822122436 W goa1556.in
