OK. Lets stir up a ruckus. Fact: most of the top comedians in America who are politically active support Democrats. With the exception of Dennis Miller (who has pretty much given up a formal career in comedy to be a political talker) they joke from the left and often give major money to Democratic candidates. Will Ferrell is in the spotlight a lot thanks to FunnyOrDie which is the creator of the ACA/Zach Galifinakis Between Two Ferns. Jerry Seinfeld, David Letterman, Sarah Silverman, Amy Poehler, Bill Maher, Tina Fey, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are some of the names that quickly come to mind ... the list is long and really funny. (And this doesnt even count Sen. Al Franken who, like Miller, has toned things down on the comedy side. I personally think stand-up comics, to be successful, have to be intelligent and well informed. Stupid people cant do good standup. I also believe (surprise) that there are a lot of intelligent, well informed conservatives out there. So why dont we have any big-time right-leaning comics? The only funny conservatives I can think of are Archie Bunker, the Stephen Colbert TV persona and Tim Allens character on Last Man Standing. And those characters are parodies. (Of course, we also had Rob Meat Head Reiner on All in the Family as a parody of a lefty...). Comment at will!
