OK fans, I need some help. This is the Coyote. Coyote is a 9 month old Great Pyrenees lab puppy. He is called the Coyote because he is almost as wild as a dingo, but is on his way to being civilized. Heres is background. Coyote was rescued (read: trapped) two months ago. His Mom has been shot and all but a few of his siblings died either of starvation or gunshot or car. They essentially lived in a ditch. Coyotes trust in people was on the low side of things and I have to say that I find that being shot at tends to make you wary. Coyote was in a short term foster for 2 weeks and then came to my home where he has resided for the last five weeks. It is time for him to move on to another home to work on advanced placement being a dog 101. I have three feral dogs in my home and I dont have enough time to devote to all three so I want this puppy to get more attention. He is coming along rapidly and every morning he jumps on the bed for petting before running away. Progress. Also, he no longer lays on the back of the couch and he just hangs out on the actual seating area of the couch now. More progress. Coyote is good with all dogs and cats. He is very submissive. We managed to housebreak him and he understands the word outside very well. This dog is incapable of hurting anyone - its not in his nature - but he is a massive flight risk. Here are his requirements: 1. Securely fenced yard. No exceptions. No chain link. If this dog escapes, he will never be seen again. 2. Other dogs. He needs friends to play with and help him learn. 3. A very calm and patient foster. Yelling at him wont help. 4. Experience at handling very timid dogs. If your experience consists of petting a dog that shrank from you slightly, we want your help, but not with this dog. This dog you wont have your hands on for weeks. He will stare at you and come up to let you scratch his chin before retreating again. This dog is in Nashville and needs a foster home. He is already fully vetted and at this point, what he needs is time and patience. The kneecapping rule also applies to this dog. Interested fosters should email jean@bigfluffydogs and tell me why you think you can manage the Coyote. PS I sometimes get drilled with emails, so check this post again for updates. Thanks.
