OK, got a question for ya’ll- I talked to a club owner last night about working his venue and he told me he would only hire me based upon how many people I could bring into his place. Doesn’t matter if your act is good or if you are god awful. Only matters how you draw, which is the way all these clubs operate these days. They don’t feel they need to figure out a way to draw a crowd into their venue, they place all the responsibility on the acts themselves. So, the bottom line is, if I played this place, which is in West Chicago, do you think you’d be interested in stopping by on a Saturday night in June or July? It’s actually a really nice place with good Italian food, etc. I’m not asking people to come out of pity or guilt or to feel pressured and I’m not asking anyone to commit to being there. I’m just putting out feelers to see if theres any interest. And depending on how many people respond to this, will depend on whether or not I’ll play there. He won’t hire me unless I can actually give him a number of guests. Roughly 15-20 people. If youre not interested, you dont need to respond to this. Ill understand. And of course, if youre a musician, you might want to check this place out. Cmon up on stage and do a tune. Anyway, let me know what you think And thanks a bunch! This show biz thang gets tougher all the time, I tells ya.
