OK, how about this: The phrase miss the forest for the trees is fundamentally outdated: There is no forest. There is just a bunch of trees that we are too cognitively limited to appreciate individually all at once. There is no race of people. Theres just a whole huge group of people who are all radically different individually. We assign INTENTIONALITY:forest to a set of trees or INTENTIONALITY:race to a set of people and call them a FOREST or a RACE because no one in their right minds memorizes like 5,124,213 trees or people with individual characteristics. A prosthetic device that outsources trivial information from short-term memory to a machine that memorizes all 5,124,213 trees and displays them in a lossless gestalt effectively obviates the INTENTIONALITY:forest hack and makes people better at reading.
