OK in relation to the Pedestrian/School Crossing Just spoke with Daniel who informed me that the Project Engineer, Ian Harman explained that although it is an RMA project they, are waiting on our council to submit an application to have the lights installed. Daniel said that my phone call this afternoon brought up a few issues with the crossing and they called a meeting about it to resolve those or some of those issues. A few minutes ago I received a call from Jennifer BYRNES the School crossing coordinator who handed me to the Traffic Engineer who is likewise a bit bemused that our council hasnt got a temporary measure in place. Anyway the result is this. The Project Manager is trying to fast track it, but they need the council to get those lighting plans in urgently to enable them to complete it. So I would advise our council to do the following. 1. put in place some large unmissable signs saying (Pedestrians and School Children Crossing) 2. a Council Employee to stand there with a sign from 8:30am until 9pm and from 3pm until 3:15pm. So thats the latest folks. GET THAT LIGHING PLAN FINISHED AND IN COUNCIL.
