OK, its official. I am truly a senior citizen. Took my first fall after moving to the home. Embarrassing part? I fell right next to the treadmill as I was about to get on. There was a maintenance man in the gym and he tells me the rule is that you cant try to get up once youre down--you have to wait to be evaluated so they can determine if 911 needs to be called. Pretty soon I have the front desk person, the sales person, the manager of the assisted living part of the facility, the maintenance person bending over my body simultaneously! It was determined (by me) that I could manage to get up on my own (avoidance of 911), but when I did I was really dizzy (hit my head), so the next move was a wheel chair to get me back to our apartment. They delivered my lunch to me so I wouldnt have to walk down to the dining room. I asked the nurse if I could go ahead and work out on the treadmill. She looked at me as if I had lost my mind (it was probably laying on the floor where I hit it). I will have a few black and blue trophies to show off to validate my worthiness of a few statements of compassion. I am still a little woozy so wont make it to church tonight to run the camera. Maybe I should go ahead and go and have the camera just a notch off focus--that would drive the entire AV team crazy! As Roy has said for years: There is only room in this household for one disabled person and I got my reservation in first!! If you are feeling pressured to send flowers or other large gifts, you may be relieved of the thought. I prefer Sees Chocolates!!
