OK, maybe this whole mission I’m on needs a little more explanation… We’re one of the main sponsors for the Southern Utah Code Camp which is… well, I’ll just steal their description from their website Code Camp is a programming, design and entrepreneurship contest all rolled up into a ridiculously compressed 24-hour event. It’s crazy fun! Teams ranging in size from one to four participants compete against other teams to build the best web or mobile app. This year’s event features three divisions: Industry teams who compete to develop company ideas and claim bragging rights. Collegiate teams who want to impress potential employers. Novice teams who are exploring the industry and learning new techniques. Rookie Kit teams base their project on the provided rookie kit. We’re heavily involved because we see real value in promoting innovation in our community, spotting young talent, and looking for new tech that emerges out of these contests. Some of our senior engineers were on the ground-floor of organizing the first Code Camp several years ago, and are here as mentors. Also, several of our software engineers are here competing in the “pro” category, putting together a scratch-mode app for business use. Additionally, one of the student teams is led by our own Kaden Wilkinson, a release engineer at busybusy by day and student at Dixie State University (DSU) at night. And then there’s me, wandering around just absorbing the atmosphere, interviewing some pretty interesting people and checking out some interesting stuff (gotta show you Trevor’s water-cooled computer). This place is literally buzzing with energy and ideas. You can hear the brain-waves crackling… Share with Friends The post Promoting innovation: busybusy sponsors CodeCamp 2014 appeared first on busybusy blog.
