OK, so Im going to take a moment to let my FB peeps know what I thought of the Noah movie beyond my brief tweets about being underwhelmed and making cracks about rock monsters. (SPOILER ALERT) Here we go: - The acting was good, the effects were good- there was a solid embracing of the full out, unvarnished wrath of God. - There was substantial artistic license taken, which I could have lived with, providing that the writers were filling in and dramatizing the story. - But heres the main problems: They made Noah into a confused, almost psychotic character, unsure of his purpose. Thats definitely not the faithful man of God depicted in Scripture. Secondly, they took the environmental message over the hill and off the cliff- it was ridiculous that they made that the primary focus of mans sin. Third, they didnt just fill in, the writers veered far off the path of the Biblical story, with no wives for two of Noahs sons (yeah, I got the twin babies, but really?), a murderous stowaway chopping his way into the Ark, the ravens and doves sent by Japheth without Noahs knowledge, much less involvement. Bottom line- it was just way too off course for me. Will it get people talking? It already has. But not in a good way. God is not the author of confusion. Dont go see this movie.
