OK so a few of us have been chatting about putting on a free workshop to help teens setup their life path, so some key targets: 1) There is low financial literacy from many young people, and a small amount of education could result in much more wealth (eg understanding compound interest). 2) There is not a clear path from being poor to a high paying job / being rich, so a few of us are wanting to map out a specific path that we have taken and how they could follow that same path. 3) Waitangi day is celebrated as a day of protest, while we respect that, we also would love to embrace NZ as a multicultural country (including Korea, China, India etc). We would also love to have a specific day of celebration of this sort of kiwiness. Many of the treaty claims are getting closer to being settled (or have been settled), and there has to be some time when we decide to move forward and setup a new future. 4) Many poor people have difficulty having enough for food etc, and we have some plans to help this. We have a planning session up at Spuntino Cafe in Albany next Tuesday, at 2pm, so feel free to come along, contribute ideas to help this, or provide encouragement.
