OK truth be told...I never thought it was Just Me that got it but in the last 2 days I have been overwhelmed at how crazy the response is from fellow Mats fans...A few simple posts has led to over 150 new FB friends and a FB feed that ( if I had time to keep up with ) is now pleasant and refreshing as opposed to how depressing and worthless it used to be with all of the whining and spouse bashing I used to witness...My info says my hometown is Minneapolis but that is not true...I am from Mid Missouri but recent events have led me to disavow my hometown and I adopted a place I feel more at home...The Cities - Minneapolis/St Paul...I grew up as a Vikings fan in Mid Missouri and as tough as it may be at times I still am and will always be...I love Soul Asylum , Prince is kinda good also , and well Michael Bland and Linda Pitmon kill it on the drums...I used to come up there quite a bit back in the day but have not been since 2003 so needless to say I am stoked...This is a trip I / We Mats Fans never thought would happen and it should ( will ) be awesome...For me it is a little more than just The Mats...The long and short of this sad tale is my son and I had planned to make a road trip to Canton Ohio the day Cris Carter was enshrined into the HOF but due to the BS delay it did not happen until 8/2013...Due to my stupidity/selfishness and recklessness of getting a DUI we had to miss this event and road trip...Crushing blow as a father , more than most truly know or appreciate....Then I hear the Mats are reuniting to play Riot Fest shows but oh wait I cant go because well I have no license to drive to Chicago , Denver or Toronto...Just another punch to that area right below the belt that to be honest I truly deserved....Fast forward a few months , things are getting better and then rumor becomes reality that the boys are playing a hometown reunion show and it happens to be in September of 2014....Freaking Score because I got my license and life back in July of 2014...I calmly waited and said nothing until the day the tickets went on sale and I got my 4 ( I have 2 extra hard copy real tickets for sale by the way - under retail but over face - taking the profit and buying shirts and such so dont hate on me )...I waited till later in the day and called my 15 year old son who is named Carter....Get it ??? and said you remember how we had planned the Canton trip and I screwed it up by being an idiot...He calmly said yeah...I then replied I have something better for us to do....He said - I already know..I was a little surprised but I bit and said oh really...He said dude we are going to see The Replacements in Austin TX...I was pleased that he said Replacements and loving that he had no clue what I was about to tell him...I said well you are close but not quite there...I said we are going to see The Replacements but not in Austin Texas...I then told him that we were going to see them in the Hometown Reunion Show in St. Freaking PAUL ( irony ) and there was silence...That was the best silence I have heard in 15 months of silence ( not a Few Minutes of Silence ) I have endured my friends...He simply replied are you freaking kidding me and I said NOPE , this is a done freaking deal my son...So as I sit here today after a miserable 15 months or so I say Thank You for playing this show and thank you for getting me to this day...I would love to hold court and meet all of my new Mats friends and I will do my best to meet some of you but this is a trip so long in the waiting in so many ways that all I want to do is road trip up with my 15 year old son and disappear in a sea of family who get it and on some level are feeling the same way I am...#FeelingLikeAHundredBucks , #CHW , #Peace - My cell is 816-863-4299 so feel free to text me your number and lets meet and enjoy the day none of us thought would ever happen...
