OMG!!! I went through my Dads stuff today. Hundreds of photos w/ an old Brownie. Weeks of Throwback Thursdays materials. My nephews, Byron Matthews and Jesse Matthews will be blown away. For you baseball fans, as was my Dad, and I, there will be some special treats. Articles my Dad kept back to 1949 are included. I had a magical childhood, captured not only on still film but also in videos, hours upon hours, which are now on VCR and soon to be transferred to DVD. I have an entire history of my family, but also a history of this country with dozens of photos and records of WW I and WW II. Not only that, but I have the Civil War records of my GGGrandfather, Captain Robert Calvin Matthews. It includes photos as well as his multi-page, Last Will & Testament. The man had assets, to put it lightly. I have photos of his offspring and their offspring. I have Moms family photos, Dads family photos and photos to this date. What a memorable day. What a memorable life. Barbara Ply, you will not believe some of the photos I have of Harold, Vivian, yourself, and Virginia. Your mother, my Dads sis was a knockout! I have so many of Jerry Sullivan nee Matthews, their brother James, it is amazing. Some when they were just tots. It will take me months/ years to digitize all of this! Oh well, it will be a blast! My father, Winford Fizer Matthews, Jr. captured every news story/ press releases of my career. Stacks of my Little League through my professional career, in the Daily OK, Tulsa World, Washington Post, Seminole Producer, Journal Record, etc. I never knew he had done this. I do not know where to start! Gloria Henry Crawford, I have articles of Wilburn and I in Little League, as pitcher and catcher back to 6 y/a. Your Dad may love to see them. I have the original articles in the Producer. You are not going to believe this stuff! Bill Moreland, when you see this stuff about baseball, which I will scan, including a February, 1949 article that was in my Dads stuff, you will think youd died and gone to heaven. There are articles re: Red Alexander, my Dads good buddy, who was a Scout, as I am sure you know, it will conjure memories. Amazing stuff! Some of the best however, were of my mother and some of my mother and I, very early, even before we moved to OK, that may astound you, at least those who knew my MOM. She was the most beautiful creature I have ever known. She never disappointed me, she never hurt me, she made me laugh, she did whatever it took that I never disappointed her. I am a Mommas Boy. She and my Sis, Janice, are now and will always be my first true loves. I miss them but they make me smile. Always and forever.
