ON THE ISSUE OF DREADLOCKS: You as investor decides to put up a private school. Not as a donor but as an INVESTOR. The vision, culture and values you envisaged when you started the venture are still fresh in your head. One of your clients (a pupil in your school) decided to disregard all that and grows dreadlocks. Your brand which is tbe school you dont want it associated with rasta. So you give the client ultimatum; shave the locks or find another school. All of a sudden thr client quotes the constitution. The client says you are infringing on his rights. What about your rights as an investor? How do you protect your brand and investment????? This to me is a case of elitism. Somebody feels enlightened and want to practice that enlightenment at your property. You cant force me to do business with you. If you cant shave dreadlocks and i dont want dreadlocks in my school, find another school; especially public school. I went to a public primary school in muranga county and the roles were simple. All girls had to shave their hair unless the region prohibits them from doing so and the whole school only less than 10 girls kept their hair. Those who couldnt agree to that rule had the option of joining academies which at that time allowed girls to keep their hair. I could see girls who transfered to our school shave hair as the first thing before being admitted. Back to the issue of dreadlocks, if you want to keep your locks and I dont want dreadlocks in my business venture which is my school , look for another school. Its simple as that.. Every organisation has rules..
