ON THE TRAIL OF A CHEATER! It is no usual business in The Mara, Sarvey area along the pristine Sand River. A film maker has been trailing a cheetah with her weeks-old cubs from dusk to dawn in a manner that leaves me gutted. Sticking with his licence to film, he gets up close and personal with the cats every single second completely ignoring anyones plea of keeping safe distance to give time and space to the cheetah and her cubs. The result, you wonder? The little ones get no time to suckle( fundamental), they get little or no skills of survival from their mother( regrettable), the whole family is exposed to the unforgiving predators who compete with cheetahs for food and territory in the jungle; lions, hyenas, wild dogs, jackals, leopards et al. As a result, the cubs chances of reaching maturity, are agonisingly jeorpadised, the very core of the wild is altered as these crucial animals in the food chain are messed. We all savour unique once in a lifetime shots and films of nature and her mind boggling creatures, not least the cheetahs. That however, must be done with respect to the animals welfare at heart, all else second. This man is doing everything wrong, from exposing himself to an angry cat by getting dangerously close to preventing other guides from taking their guests through the intricasies of a lifetime opportunity. This cubs are no longer in their natural behavior.
