OPEN AUDITIONS FOR THE MERRY WIVES OF WINSFORD - GUILDEN SUTTON PLAYERS Weds 9th and Sunday 13th July. Guilden Sutton Village Hall - Marigold Room Firstly a huge thank you from the Director Gail Young to both Anna Morris and Rob Jones for recently running two really enjoyable text workshops . They were a lot of fun and set the tone for the forthcoming auditions and rehearsals for our RSC Open Stages production Secondly - auditions ! These will be held on Wednesday 9th July 2014 and Sunday 13th July 2014 in the Marigold Room at Guilden Sutton Village Hall. Start times for both evenings is 8pm If you absolutely cannot make either of the above dates please email Gail ASAP or ring her on 01244 301558 to discuss a follow up date Rehearsals will commence Wednesday 6th August with a read through / recording of the play. Those cast will need to be available for both of the usual Guilden Sutton Players rehearsal nights ie both on a Weds and Sunday nights. Please bring along with you dates for the period 6/8 - 14/11/14 that you have pre planned holidays etc so that the reh schedule can take this into account. As I am sure that you will all appreciate this will be a more demanding rehearsal process than usual so absences from the reh room need to be at a minimum as we will work on more than one sceneat a time while work-shopping the text etc As with the text workshops the auditions are quite informal and will be a mix of readings and small groups work-shopping some sections of the text. No preparation needed in advance The characters in the play are as follows - if you feel that you wish to read for a particular part please email Gail in advance on younggail2@aol, otherwise we will assume that you are happy to be considered for any of the roles in the play Middle aged / older men John Falstaff - big character both in stature and personality- an immoral loveable villain/ rogue George Page - Husband of Margaret Page - father of Anne Page Frank Ford - Insanely jealous husband of Alice Ford Robert Shallow - Local country squire - Uncle to Abraham Slender Hugh Evans - Welsh Parson Dr Caius - French physician Host/ Landlord of the local Inn Younger Men Abraham Slender (could also be played as an immature older man - but would like the playing age to not exceed 30) Peter Simple - servant to Abraham Slender Master Fenton - Young gentleman in love with Anne Page Youths Robin - Falstaffs pageboy (NB The character of William Page has been cut from this production) Women - middle aged or older Margaret Page - Wife of George and mother of Anne. Alice Ford - married to the jealous Frank. Mistress Quickly - Housekeeper of Dr Caius. Young woman Anne Page - daughter of George and Margaret. Falls for Master Fenton. Playing age 17 - 20 Depending on the turnout at the auditions the following roles could be played by either men or women - and will be updated to 1950s characters as will all the characters in the show: Falstaffs little gang - Bardolph / Pistol / Nim (eg could be played as a gang of teddy girls or teddy boys) Various servants eg John Rugby / Robert (could be played as washer women / charladies) There will be 1950s musical content in the play and we welcome interest from those who would like to participate in this aspect of the production - either as singers or a dab hand with an instrument ...
