OPEN LETTER TO THE BISHOP, THE PARISH PRIEST AND THE CLERGY OF THE DIOCESE OF SAN PABLO AND SAN PABLO CATHEDRAL This is an open letter to the Bishop, the Parish Priest and the Church hierarchy of the San Pablo Cathedral, Diocese of San Pablo from the concerned citizens and Parishioners of San Pablo Cathedral. We wish to clarify that our group is not against the Restoration of the Church Patio. Our decision to actively campaign for the return of the antique fences in the Church Patio is not an act against the Bishop, the Parish priest and the clergy. Our position against its replacement and removal is neither a personal vendetta nor a campaign against the Catholic Church of which we are part of. It is our sole belief that the antique steel fences is part of San Pablo’s heritage and history, thus, the Church hierarchy are mere stewards of these properties, of which they have a duty to preserve for the next generations of San Pablenos. It is our humble opinion that as concerned citizens of San Pablo and active members of the Catholic Church we have a civic duty to protect the San Pablo Cathedral’s heritage and help in its preservation and restoration. Thus, the issue here is not about our faith and meddling with the decisions of the Catholic church. We believe we have the support of the silent majority of the parishioners and citizens of San Pablo who would want the restoration and return of the antique steel fences around the patio. This is not just about the “fence” but is also about respect for the culture and heritage of San Pablo. We wish to remind the Church hierarchy on the Latin maxim “vox populi vox Dei” (the voice of the people is the voice of God). So please hear the voice of the people of San Pablo and heed the voice of God saying…PLEASE RETURN AND RESTORE THE ORIGINAL FENCES OF THE PATIO THE SOONEST!!!
