The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for economics and business news reporting for Die Burger-Oos-Kaap. The sucessful candidate must be prepared to work long and irregular hours. It includes Sundays and public holidays. Responsibilities •Identify and write news content for all platforms of Die Burger to give the paper the edge on its competition •Write quality news copy in flawless Afrikaans that is factually correct, relevant to Die Burger’s readers and delivered within given deadlines on a daily basis •Conceptualise visual content such as graphics and photo’s •Build relationships with contacts that will lead to news content that is interesting, relevant and essential to Die Burger and its readers Requirements •Knowledge of the key economic activities in the Eastern Cape •Numeracy and the ability to distill engaging articles from statistical information •An interest in and the ability to also report general news •Excellent Afrikaans writing skills •A relevant university degree with at least a post graduate qualification in journalism •A valid driver’s licence Send your application to [email protected] – reference Journalist Die Burger-Oos The closing date is 13 March 2014 and if you have not heard from us by 28 March 2014, you can regard your application as unsuccessful.
