ORANGE Fun and excitement are at the core of the Orange - TopicsExpress

ORANGE Fun and excitement are at the core of the Orange personality. They thrive on the rush they receive from doing things other people are afraid to do. They love to surround themselves with people who are willing to laugh, explore, play hard, and work hard. To the chagrin of those in authority over them, Oranges believe that respect is something that has to be earned, not expected. Though many mistake their happy-go-lucky attitude as something less than a serious approach to life, they have tireless ability and stamina when they are involved in pursuits that are valuable to them. They work as hard as they play. For this reason they are highly competitive. This competitive drive is the thing that often makes them more successful than their more organized counterparts. They are tirelessly optimistic, and find ways to succeed when others would give up. They typically appear unorganized and unprepared, but they have their own sense of order, and have developed an amazing ability to think on their feet. They need to be able to deal with things in a very practical way. If they cant see the immediate reason for doing something, they will often dismiss it as stupid or boring. They are often more interested in their own feelings than the feelings of others, and they let their gut response to an issue or a situation determine what they will do without thought of the consequences. For this reason they usually have become quite good at making apologies. Even so, they are upbeat, fun, and inspiring to be around. A good rule of thumb for understanding an Orange is they love to be in the limelight. • Life must be engaging and fun • Non-traditional approaches are exciting • Make sure all expectations are clearly explained and understood • Use variety • Create assignments that have specific goals and objectives, but keep them to yourself • Help them find some joy in doing Gold things • Be flexible • Be willing to negotiate • Be willing to overlook certain behaviors • Make sure to remind them continually concerning due dates and assignments • Use humor • Establish a non-obtrusive routine • Make things more hands-on • Help them stay on task • Provide opportunities for alternative assignments • Utilize their boundless energy • Allow them to learn by doing • Develop the use of healthy competition • Provide immediate and tangible rewards
