OSUN BOOST AGRICULTURE WITH N710M WORTH OF FERTILISER Mr Sunday Akere, the Osun Commissioner for Information, said at the weekend that the state Government would spend N710 million on the purchase of assorted fertiliser for the 2014 planting season. Akere said in a statement made available to Bioreports in Osogbo that the State Agricultural Development Programme (OSSADEP) had requested for 6,000 tonnes of fertiliser. The statement said the commodity would be procured and distributed to farmers before the commencement of the planting season. “After due consideration at the Executive Council meeting, it was resolved that the request is in line with the food security agenda of the state.” The statement said that the commodity comprise 3,500 tonnes of NPK and 2,500 tonnes of Urea. It further said that the Sunshine Oil Chemical Development Limited would deliver the consignment, adding that the contract covered logistics and haulage. “The consignment must be inspected by the state Tenders’ Board and the state Planning Committee before payment, to ensure conformity with the contract terms.”
