OSUN DECLARES PUBLIC HOLIDAY FOR TRADITIONAL BELIEVERS The state government of Osun has declared Wednesday 20th August, 2014 as a public holiday in commemoration of the annual Isese Day. The day which was set aside by the United Nation as the Day for Indigenous Religion all over the world was first observed as public holiday in the state since last year as part of the effort of the Aregbesola administration to ensure equality among all religion in its bid to promote communal peace and progress which is one of the six point integral action plan of this regime. Traditional religion worshippers usually set aside the week running to the 20th August every year for celebrating with their own adherents while the day usually witness parades, lectures and display of other traditional apparels to attract tourists from other parts of the world. The government enjoined all traditional religion worshippers to use the day to appreciate God for the peaceful conduct of the August 9th gubernatorial election in Osun and also pray for wisdom, strength and good health for the governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and members of his team in their second tenure so that their goal of moving the state forward will be achieved.
