OUR BRAIN OR OUR HEART? If we allow our brain to think it “is us” rather than a key part “of us,” we cannot learn the true nature of what it means to be human. Survival of the fittest has come to mean survival of the smartest and the most “brainy.” As a result, the brain has been left free to “do its Darwinian thing.” It has created an increasingly individualistic and separatist approach to living in which many of us end up feeling over-pressured and alone in our struggle for self-advancement and survival.
