OUR SERVICES The Institute has adequate facilities to render services to all categories of clients such as government and nongovernment organisations, private individuals and other corporate bodies in forestry and allied areas. • Mass production of quality seeds, seedlings, plantlets and other planting stocks for plantation establishment for various programmes such as erosion and desertification control. • Consultancy services in all aspects of our research mandates (e.g. landscaping, watershed management, shelterbelt and plantation establishment, sand dune fixation, diagnostic surveys, plant inventory, wood processing, erosion and flood control through afforestation, soil and plant nutrition analysis, treatment of termite infested buildings and sites). • Feasibility surveys and studies on varieties of small, medium and large scale investment opportunities such as cane rat, edible mushroom, decorative ceiling board, floor and wall tile production, sawmill establishment and management and private plantation establishment. • Production and supply of decorative face ceiling boards, floor and wall tiles, laminated wood products, mature cane rats for consumption, breeding stock for rearing, edible mushroom for consumption and spawn for cultivation, silkworm cocoons and merchantable trees for timber and poles. • Training in mushroom and cane rat production, herbarium establishment and management, herbarium specimen collection, identification and handling; wood seasoning and wood-crafts; industrial attachment training to students from higher institutions and other research centres. • Formal training of middle level technical manpower in the Institute’s Colleges. • Forest extension services in relation to the Institute’s mandate areas. • Library and information Services. • Sale of FRIN publications. QUALITY OF OUR SERVICES We have always ensured that we deliver good quality services to our numerous customers/clients. This is evidenced by continuous requests for our training programmes on: * Seed and seedling production * Wood processing and utilization * Grasscutter domestication/production * Edible mushroom production * Herbarium management and techniques. The good quality of our services is also evidenced by: * Increased demand for our numerous wood-based products. In this connection, Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) had commended the Institute on the good quality of electric poles treated. * A large number of scientific publications that have produced in both local and international journals by researchers in the Institute. Copies of the reprints of these publications are being requested for by both local and Foreign scientists, requests which are being met by the Institute. * The bulk of forestry personnel in all the forestry services in the country are products of our Colleges. Enrolments in these Colleges have continued to be on the increase. * Diagnostic surveys conducted by the Institute for many Agricultural Development Programmes in the country have helped in the formulation of programmes that have enhanced agro forestry practices in affected States for sustainable development, food security and poverty alleviation. * Large scale afforestation programme at our Trial Afforestation Project, Afaka-Kaduna . This we shall achieve through: * Carrying out of annual research reviews. * Production of annual reports. * Production of annual reports * Execution of further research to cover any identified gap(s). * Collaboation with other relevant bodies/institutions as may be necessary.
