#OYO 2015: YOUTH ORGANIZATION ENDORSE ALAO AKALA# The Southern Nigeria Youth Front (SNYF) is a non-governmental organisation whose members cut across the three of the six geo-political zone of Nigeria has declared their support for the return of Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala as the governor of Oyo state in 2015 The group in a communiqué issued at the end of her 7th NEC meeting held at the University of Lagos, said “Having reviewed the present governance and political situations in Oyo State, the SNYF is convinced that the only hope left for the restoration of human dignity, genuine good governance, even distributions of dividends of democracy to all geo-political zones of Oyo State, adequate welfare of the citizens/non-citizens and the abolition of poverty in the Pace Setter State is for a masses-friendly person to take over from Sen. Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi come 2015. Hence, the unanimous adoption of Otunba (Dr.) Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala by the SNYF The communiqué which was jointly signed by YSO Olaniyi Elodyper National Convener and Sam Ayara , the National Publicity Secretary reads further that “It is our holistic believe that the emergence of the former governor of the state will restore hope for the common man, provide jobs for the youths and take the state to the apex of masses-oriented governance”. Added that We decided to throw our heavy weight behind Otunba Alao-Akala to re-enter the Oyo State 2015 gubernatorial race based on his sterling and yet-to-be surpassed performance when he was governor in 2006 and 2007-2011 apart from the giant strides of the former governor recorded during his first reign as governor, which positively affected all the nooks and crannies of the state, we resolved to persuade Otunba to run in 2015, because God endowed him with the ability to put smiles on the faces Oyo State citizens and non-citizens”. The group maintained further that “the yearnings of the 95% of the Oyo State electorates for the return of peoples governor informed our decision. Therefore, we call on Otunba (Dr.) Alao-Akala to accept the masses clarion call to serve again and to formally declare for 2015 gubernatorial race without further delay. While advocating support for the ex governor, the group said that “ In lieu of the above, we call on all stakeholders in Oyo State most especially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to back a positively popular leader such as Alao-Akala. We humbly urge the party not to make a monumental mistake by forcing an unpopular candidate on the suffering and good people of the state. The party (PDP) must note without bias that ALAO-AKALA is the only prominent name that rings in the ears of citizens from the grassroots to the highest echelon, especially in the realm of politics cum purposeful and quality leadership. Unlike other aspirants wanting to govern Oyo State, one astute politician that commands intimidating governance and political profile is Akala. As it stands, the call for Otunba Alao-Akalas return to the Agodi Government House can readily be vetted by everyone across the length and breadth of the state and beyond. Sample opinions from the streets, offices, villages, hamlets, Local Government Areas, groups and individuals and what have you would give the party no other result except Akala. In another development the SNYF also express concern on the outbreak of Ebola virus in the West African countries and urge Nigerian government to ensure 100% functionality of the 24 hours and have emergency Operations established to curtail the deadly virus, “we strongly demand state governments to open up isolation centres to contain people who might need to be treated or isolated”. The group also solemnly appeal to the striking Lagos State resident doctors to unconditionally resume work in order to save the country from the epidemic as seven Nigerians have been officially confirmed to be battling with the virus in the state They however appeal to president Jonathan to deploy all possible means that will put an end to the activities of Boko Haram in the country and rescue the abducted chibok girls.
