Oak Ridge Metta (Loving Kindness) Meditation, a class taught by - TopicsExpress

Oak Ridge Metta (Loving Kindness) Meditation, a class taught by John Blackburn, begins October 6, 2013 Metta Meditation is a transformative practice. It dissolves habit patterns that prevent us from living and loving in a wholehearted way. In daily life, we often find that our relationships bring us suffering. The practice of Metta is a powerful way to bring healing and wisdom to our relationships. Insight (or Mindfulness) Meditation is training for the mind; Metta is training for the heart. Each practice supports the other, and Metta is considered essential to the development of concentration and insight. This class will teach the meditative practice of Metta (Loving Kindness). Guided meditations will provide experiential learning. Instruction will also be given in the cultivation of Mudita (Joy), Karuna (Compassion) and Upekka (Equanimity). Following the class, a weekly follow-up meeting will be offered at no cost to answer questions and help you establish and maintain a regular practice. The class will meet on Sunday afternoons from 1:30-2:45 on October 6, 13, 20, and 27. Due to limited seating, pre-registration is requested. Please contact me at johnMB1948@hotmail or (865) 771-9906. There is a suggested donation of $60, which covers all four classes. This is a suggested donation, and participants are free to donate more or less, depending on their individual practice of generosity and their financial situation. Location: Aspen Healing Center, Oak Ridge, TN A limited number of chairs will be available. If you are able to bring your own meditation cushion or a folding chair, please do so.
