Obamacare Key Advisor: “We’re At DEFCON Politically Problematic” facebook twitter digg reddit email Delaware officials celebrate as FIRST person in state signs up Steve Watson Infowars Oct 16, 2013 While the White House has said that the president has “full confidence” in Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, despite the disastrous rollout, a key adviser to Obamacare has declared that the rollout is in complete crisis. “I wish it were going a little bit better,” said Jonathan Gruber, an economics professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the architect of Romneycare, which was the blueprint for Obamacare. “I think it harms the perception.” “Right now we’re at “DEFCON politically problematic,” Gruber added. The White House has refused to indicate when the federal exchanges will finally be functional. If the estimates of officials in Maryland are anything to go by, however, it is going to be at least two months. Bob Laszewski, an industry consultant with intimate knowledge of the Obamacare system has called for the entire “disaster” to be shutdown indefinitely so that repairs can be made. Laszewski noted that “Things are worse behind the curtain than in front of it”. On Tuesday, Obama himself acknowledged the glitch ridden rollout for the first time. “I am the first to acknowledge that the website that was supposed to do this all in a seamless way has had way more glitches than I think are acceptable and we’ve got people working around the clock to do that,” Obama told KCCI, a CNN affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa. “We’ve seen some significant progress but until it’s 100% I’m not going to be satisfied.” The Obamacare Twitter feed, however, has gone silent. Meanwhile, Delaware Health and Social Service officials were celebrating Wednesday after one person in the state was finally able to sign up for Obamacare. USA Today reports that the Department of Health and Social Service officials have declared 59-year-old Janice Baker of Selbyville the first confirmed resident to enroll in the marketplace. The government run health exchange opened over two weeks ago on Oct. 1 as part of the roll-out of the Affordable Care Act, yet in that time not a single person successfully signed up. Ms Baker commented that she had spent hours attempting to sign up online and just as much time on the phone, after call center operatives’ computers repeatedly crashed while they were attempting to take Baker through the sign up process. Baker claims that it was only after she cleared the browsing history, cookies and all other temporary data on her computer that she was able to sign up and login to the healthcare exchange. One Delaware official stated “…now that we have Janice, we’re going to see more and more people successfully getting through the screens and getting through the enrollment.” The news prompted Twitter users to poke more fun at the new healthcare system. An interesting Forbes report earlier in the week notes that a “growing consensus of IT experts, outside and inside the government” believe that HHS bureaucrats chose to launch a defective Healthcare.gov website rather than reveal the real the underlying cost of Obamacare’s insurance plans. “Healthcare.gov was initially going to include an option to browse before registering,” report Christopher Weaver and Louise Radnofsky in the Wall Street Journal. “But that tool was delayed, people familiar with the situation said.” “An HHS spokeswoman said the agency wanted to ensure that users were aware of their eligibility for subsidies that could help pay for coverage, before they started seeing the prices of policies.” “Obamacare wasn’t designed to help healthy people with average incomes get health insurance.” writes Avik Roy. “It was designed to force those people to pay more for coverage, in order to subsidize insurance for people with incomes near the poverty line.” —————————————————————- Steve Watson is the London based writer and editor for Alex Jones’ Infowars, and Prisonplanet.
