Obeying your conscience will not get you to heaven. Nowhere does - TopicsExpress

Obeying your conscience will not get you to heaven. Nowhere does the Bible say that following your conscience is the way to heaven. Jesus said I am the way. There is no other way. He said I am the door. There is no other door. The gate is wide leading to destruction but narrow leading to eternal life. Jesus is the only way. The problem with man is not that he needs help, the problem is that man is DEAD in trespasses and sins. Jesus paid for the sin and secured favor with God, but we must lay hold of the divine favor of God. 2 Cor. 5:19 It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor). 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God. The qualification for heaven is not goodness, it is perfection (the righteousness of Christ). Following conscience will not achieve perfection, so Christ took our sin and gave us righteousness. Now that was a good trade for us. 21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that inand through Him we might become [[g]endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].
