Obi-Wan tells Anakin that Only the Sith deal in absolutes, and - TopicsExpress

Obi-Wan tells Anakin that Only the Sith deal in absolutes, and uses that as his identification that Anakin had actually turned to the Dark Side. But it would seem the statement itself Only the Sith deal in absolutes would be an absolute statement itself, and that his rash actions based on this single statement is just as Sith-like as Anakins statement of Either youre with me or against me. There should be no confusion here. We are talking about attitudes. Absolutes exist - they arent inherently evil or good in and of themselves. The sky is blue is generally acknowledged by everyone. A Jedi would understand that under certain circumstance the sky may turn another color - that nature is not actually constant. A Sith, however, would get into an argument over it. Are you saying, the sky ISNT blue? Or a Sith would say the sky is green and beat the living daylights out of you, until you agree - and then repeat the beating for not being consistent in your viewpoint. In essence then, the Sith thinks that you should think that the sky is only color that he says it is. Only the Sith deal in absolutes is actually a wise and valid statement which only a Sith or fool would attempt to argue against. It is also a challenge for the simple-minded to wake up by understanding that the apparent contradiction contained within the statement is actually non-existent. youtube/watch?v=wTFV9w4B0eg
