Observation 10/26/2013 Channel width: 17.8ft Discharge: 14cfs At first glance it appeared as though the water level had dropped but measurements revealed just the opposite. The original layer of gravel and cobbles is slowly being buried under finer sediment. This deposition is increasing most along the point bar, as expected. After careful observation no sedimentary structures were observed. The only exception was the presence of psudeo ripples created by the back and forth motions of organic matter (leaves). Where previously organic matter was scarce it is now abundant and collecting behind larger boulders. Deer tracks, and human footprints were also present. The increased deposition and organic material may be affecting the waters character. The velocity doesnt appear to have changed but upstream is definitely more turbid. It is likely that there is an increase in the erosion of fine sediment further upstream that is increasing the viscosity of the water. This is promoting the deposition.
