Observation: I can no longer be silent. Others coming forward have given me the strength to do what must be done. I, too, was assaulted by Bill Cosby! It started sometime around the age of 10 on CBS each Saturday morning, died off for a while, then kicked back in my early 20s every Thursday night on NBC until I was 30. He assaulted me constantly and consistently during those years as it was there that he drugged me (Im pretty sure I was addicted) and, in a way, forced me to..... ... listen to his jokes/stories for hours! I have lived with this for years because The Cosby Show was such a huge part in breaking down stereotypes on network television. I have kept silent for so long because I liked I Spy. I still watch Uptown Saturday Night, Lets Do It Again, and A Piece Of The Action on late night TV. But Ill be damned if I watch Ghost Dad, eat Jell-O pudding pops, or have a Coke and a smile unless theres come Crown in it! Dont feel bad for me. Ive moved on and am doing well. I can even hum The Cosby Show theme song without getting sick (not the Bobby McFerrin version, I still get nauseous when I hear that one). If anything, I learned that its possible for a Black doctor to be married to a Black lawyer, have 5 kids, etc... I also learned that Begging Benny will borrow anything youve got (a shoe, a lamp, a 2 cents stamp or a coffee pot). But most importantly (and seriously now), I know that there is no such thing as a perfect man. And while it is perfectly fine to give praise and credit where its due, putting anyone on too high of a pedestal will almost always lead to disappointment. I sincerely hope that the allegations against Mr. Cosby arent true, but either way I hope the truth comes out and justice is served, be it for him or his accuser(s). In the meantime, Ill continue to do my best to always do whats right and be careful. Afterall, it was Mr. Cosby, himself, who told us a long time ago, ..if youre not careful, you just might learn something!. Hey, hey, hey!
