Observation: I have known that as I got older, I would become invisible. Ive watched it happen to Mom and other older people. I have done things to make myself less invisible as you know. But its still there. Tonight, I was talking to this young man at Walmart in the parking lot, he smiled and acknowledged me and I thought we were having a conversation. I certainly was. I was in mid-sentence when he got in his truck and drove away without so much as a wave or a nod. Ok so maybe he was pre-occuppied. Im sure he was. But it made me think about other older people. Please dont treat them, us, like we are invisible. You may be the only person they have had a chance to speak to today. A couple minutes of your time is not, in most cases, going to cause you to miss something of great importance. And you just might be the most important thing or person that happens to that older person that day. Maybe, that week. See us, We are here.
