Occasionally I wonder why the Good Lord didnt (hasnt / doesnt) strike me mute like He did John the Baptists dad ... then I figure its to keep me humble and praying and asking for forgiveness for all the times I stick my foot in my mouth!! Its a lesson in humility that I am repeatedly being taught ~ one day, maybe, Ill learn! :) But I think, too, Id be a much less effective person and witness without the ability to speak (goof up, laugh, apologize). I certainly am not a candidate for the vow of silence! Poverty, Im fine with it! Celibacy, ok, used to that, too! But not talking ... whew! Thank you Lord for allowing me the gift of speech ~ even when I sometimes lack the gift of thought to accompany it!
