Och, so heres one of me best pub stories. I was hanging about in a very traditional Irish pub, when a very not-Irish fellow walks in. Sounded like a New Yorker, but I dont know where he was from. Anyways, the stupid bastard walks up to the bar and sits next to me, and orders a Black and Tan. Now, if yer not familiar with Irish history, heres a short lesson for ye; Black and Tans is a nickname for the RICAF, who fought the IRA during The Troubles, and were infamous for attacking civilians, and many (if not most) Irish hate them. In the rest of the world, however, its the American ink, made by layering dark stout over pale ale in a pub glass. In Ireland, however, that drink is called a Half and Half, because of the RICAF. And at the moment he said give me a Black and Tan, every man in the pub stopped stock still and stared at him, silent as a mouse fart. And we all just sat there, staring at him, for a good five minutes before he backed slowly out the door. Now, Im not sure if it was actually bas dramatic as all that, because I was smelly-arsed-drunk... but thats how I remember it, to be sure. ~The Mad Irishman
