October 1, 2014 I just spent three days in Jasper with 17 new and old photographer friends from across Alberta. It was a wonderful time and aside from the beautiful landscape, good friends and shared experiences. For a little while, it took me away from my 4 month at a time review of life. Yes, the next scheduled ct scan is towards the end of November and then I can plan ahead for another few months, whether more chemo or carry on until I can’t any longer. Life carries on and coming home I realized how much I still have. I also went to the Centre for Creative Arts and picked up a few of my prints that did not sell during my show in September. That alone is a nice affirmation when “local” people bought both prints and canvasses. I had an article published in the Art of the Peace Magazine and confirmation that my work will be used in the 2015 Peace River Powwow calendar, (yes all months ;) ), and even one photograph to be published in the local 2015 Rotoract calendar. A pretty good month for photography. Times like these make me forget that I have cancer, but then I see the worry in Korie-Lyn’s eyes and the careful way she trys to be happy and cheery around me. I know it scares her and heck, it scares me! I reach out, and try to be as strong as I can and work at some kind of normal. I made it to 20 minutes on the treadmill today and thought, this is good and keep pushing forward. When I spend time alone, I think too much! ☺ We can hope, pray in what ever fashion we wish, and live. What we can’t do is take away the worry carried by our spouses, our family and our friends. They need that support too and funny as it sounds, evn being ill, you can still send out any support that you are capable of providing and they will gladly receive it. When you are diagnosed with a life changing illness, you can never return to the old normal. You can only move on and explore new limits. Have I ever said how much I dislike limits? Even before I was ill. Hug someone you care about today and check in with those you care about. Make sure you know that they can reach out to you just as you can to them. The blessings of the Creator on all of you.
