October 11, 2014 Puerto Aventuras, Mexico Dear Friends and Neighbors, As many of you know, I have lived in Puerto Aventuras for 16 years and have enjoyed owning and operating several businesses. So it is with a sad heart to see the current events that are occurring here in the business community of which I do not play a part, and more specifically, that I have been named as one of the people responsible for events that occurred today at Café Ole. Let me state for the record and for all those that read this, that I am not now nor have I ever been a member of the Vigilance Committee for the Centro Condominio Marina. I have had nothing to do with the decisions made or implied on either side of this unfortunate situation. My only involvement was as a translator for Gayle Dunaway, owner of Café Ole at the Condominium meeting on August 2, 2014. I have taken a public position of entreating for peace as a responsible and professional businesswoman. I have publicly announced in the Pelican Press that I had withdrawn my offer to broker a peace among the parties involved as my past relationships with all involved could be misconstrued as conflict of interest. I publicly asked for someone else to step forward in the role of peacemaker. I am asking that those responsible for putting my name on signs assigning me responsibility and those who have “shared” the aforementioned sign on the Internet via Facebook, email or other form, please cease and desist immediately as this is a violation of my rights. Please make a public correction to the public error you are committing. It is a sad day for Puerto Aventuras in many ways. Sincerely, Donna Carey
