October 22nd: and another great work group today, including Kay, Bill, Tom, Ray, Susan and Greg. We also saw Sharon for a while. 1. Rays Bike Gambit - Still more bikes showing up in the shop, but big time progress today on the bike attachment to the winch. Although some redesign was required when Ray queried about the direction the bike needed to face, the bike and all the attachments were put in place and a trial run (trial bike?) was conducted. Worked like a champ - the biker (Bill) was able to spin and raise the 630 lb. CW box a couple of feet in very little time. There is still some infrastructure to complete, but that will take place out at the test site. 2. Post Shot Dampening - Tubing was not available today, but hopefully we will have it tomorrow to install before we erect the machine at the test site. 3. Frame / Structural Improvements - All of the additional steel bracing was fabricated and installed today. The machine was tested with the 630 lb. load and passed (i.e. no major distortion of the machine, no rocking of the base, etc.). It looks pretty good for now. 4. Relocation - The machine was taken down at the end of the day today. Note: The Farm Jack Instructions state, IMPORTANT: THE JACK MUST BE LOADED WITH A MINIMUM OF 110 LBS. TO LOWER STEP BY STEP. (Now we know!) There is still some additional disassembly required and then we will relocate to the test site. 5. Punch List - There are quite a few items that need to be done before we erect the machine at the test site, including; Reattach eye bolt on end of short arm and remove cable interference. Install cable attachment at bottom of mid-beam spreader. Complete new bracket for pulley mount. Drill second hole in side braces Order new 25 1/8 cable Next work session is 1 PM Wednesday. But wait, lunch will be served at noon. Heres what we will be working on tomorrow. Complete disassembly Load (minimum) platform parts on trailer Complete punch list items Continue Rays Bike Gambit work Begin relocation to test site. Build as much as possible at the site
