October 8, 2013 Gods Financial Plan for the Church Luke 8:1-3 1 Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, 2 and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities--Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, 3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herods steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance. It never ceases to amaze me how churches today focus so much attention on chicken dinners and fund raising programs at the expense of ministering the Gospel message. I am fully persuaded that the Highest priority we have as Christians is to Spread the message of Christ to this entire world. But sometimes the struggle of balancing the finances in Gods House becomes more of an obsession for the people of God than what God himself had intended. If we only take our lead from Jesus we will discover that there will be less of a need for fund raisers. Here in this rather obscure text is the hidden secret to Jesus financial strategy. Note the text tells us that all those who had been delivered and healed and changed by Jesus gave willingly of their substance to care for the ministry. When Gods people are obedient to His financial plan He takes care of the ministry. God does not want us stressing out about how to pay the bills at church. I hear Malachi say Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this, Says the LORD of hosts, If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. if all of us who have been blessed by God give the tenth we will have more than enough to take care of God’s work. Lets give to show God how much we appreciate His blessings. Lord teach me to be a faithful tither for your Glory and Honor. Amen
