Liberal/Conservative hero schools/blasts/pwnes mainstream media figure on liberal/conservative pet issue. These headlines are accompanied by write-thrus of other peoples journalism in which said liberal/conservative hero makes arguments that the mainstream media figure respectfully parries. Those counter-arguments are presented as evidence of the mainstream medias obvious liberal/conservative bias, instead of what they actually are -- a journalist adopting a line of argument for the purposes of advancing a discourse (otherwise known as conducting an interview). If you havent noticed, its really boring when somebody goes on a show and the host spends 20 minutes agreeing with them. You dont learn anything. Good interviews are like good courtroom arguments -- two people adopting adversarial positions (that may or may not reflect their personal views) so as to expose the relative weaknesses and strengths of those positions, thus allowing third-party observers to determine which they find most compelling. As Ive said, beware of any media org that makes you enjoy being angry. Die, click holes, die.
