Of all the things that helped me become less of a knee - TopicsExpress

Of all the things that helped me become less of a knee pincher/jumping ahead-er/lower leg swinger, it was to find Bruce Davidson`s control button, put that part of my leg (by the spur mount/knobby ankle bone) on the button, and KEEP IT THERE as best I could, through all phases of the jump, approach to landing. Some years ago in Practical Horse Magazine, Bruce painted small circles on an actual horse, just behind the girth, at rider ankle/Achilles tendon level. This is the go button and the support button, but for the button to function, something has to push the button. That something is your LOWER leg. If your knee is on, your lower leg is off. If your lower leg is on, your knee is off. So find the control button and discover what it feels like to put that part of your leg on the button. Then keep it there while jumping to improve your feeling of staying centered. You sort of open the angles (knee and hip) as you go up, and close them as you come down.
