Of mourning doves, holiday cards and my parents - TopicsExpress

Of mourning doves, holiday cards and my parents … Christmastime … I’ve been thinking about my parents, Russell and Dagny. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be here and, more than likely, wouldn’t have discovered the Northeast Kingdom. If it wasn’t for my dad teaching me how to write when I was in the seventh grade, I probably would never have become an author. If it wasn’t for my mom (my #1 cheerleader), I probably wouldn’t have done as well as I did on the tennis court and hockey ice. One thing my mother loved to do was mailing off Christmas cards. Every year she would send out 200 or more cards. And she loved to receive them and would hang them all over the house. I love mailing cards, too … this year about 500 … the post office loves me! And, like my mom, I love to receive them. I thank each of you who sent a card! Yesterday, I received a package from Carolyn Bates—a mouse pad and window sticker for my truck from Dog Mountain. Thank you, Carolyn! Toby and I love it! Every day, several mourning doves frequent my bird feeders. Mourning doves—a symbol of hope and peace. Here are a few pictures I took today … cards I’ve received, new mouse pad and sticker, mourning dove … and one of my parents.
