Of the SkinWars challenges so far, this third one for me personally was my least favorite. And no I dont think I shoulda won this one. And no its not cuz theyre makin me out to look like an arrogant ass... The judges were right, I definitely played it safe as I personally found it hard to come up with inspiration for womens clothing. The only thing that kept popping into my head was material girl. Of the top four I thought Felles was the cleanest. Hard to call who had the best piece. Honestly I thought everyones piece kinda looked like pages out of a coloring book, mine included. Not our best efforts. I would have LOVED to have been able to use the airbrush for this challenge. But I just couldnt take the risk. The paint supplied to us turned to powder and dusted off way too easy when it dried. They had a tendency to go drab and mute rapidly after applying them and they degraded terribly before the judges could even get a look at the models. Very discouraging for the airbrush guys. I was also kinda bummed about the lack of actual florescent colors they gave us to work with. Mythica found a good hot pink, (I think it was Mehron) that was vibrant enough to pass but it still technically wasnt a neon. 80s was all about the neon and the only available florescent colors were in the Endura line. I wasnt about to spray my whole models body down with paint designed to last 7 days! This forced me to do it all by hand. Toooooo much time on clothing folds that still didnt look all that great in the end. Oh well. Id agree that Natalies creative touches and over all concept were spot on. Loved the headphones and skates. But you know me. Im a technique and detail guy. I couldnt get past the blotchy lines. Thanks for watching everyone! The next challenge, from a theme perspective, I think will be much cooler!
