OfTEN THE BIGGEST CHALLENGES ARE BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE ~ This was me last night on the Transpen coming back from CSL at midnight...when I suddenly had a flat tire-the second within one week, so you can imagine how I felt; angry and a little worried...who to call?! Thanks to my girlfriend La Donna Ross Ochoa for taking my call at that time (and for Barbara Alvarez Zyrkowski for staying in close contact), and referring Franscico the mechanic who came to pick me up, and drove me home. Then this morning, Francisco came back to picked me up, took the tire off my car on the highway, drove to CSL to get a tire and set up on the rim, drove back to the car and put the new one so I could drive back home. But our conversation, while driving to CSL, had a different turn of events... It was one of those synchonistic moments; Francisco, not knowing a thing about me, shared that after having been inspired by a 52 year old Canadian woman named Catherine, he decided to make it a goal to enter the Los Cabos Ironman next year: I was at the finish line, in awe of this woman in her 50s completing the Ironman in 12 hours...and then there was this gentleman with no legs....I was so moved that I decided that day I was going to do the Ironman in October next year. Just finishing something like this for me would be an amazing achievement. . This 46 year old gentleman of humble means, started training on his own 6 months ago, running every day, with a little cycling and swimming before putting on a full day of hard work. What a surprise for him when he found out that, as a fairly new triathlete, I was training for the upcoming Los Cabos half Ironman in March, and that Catherine Matsalla was my coach. Great humble people, who work hard in life and do their best to serve, deserve to be helped. I told Francisco, who doesnt know much about nutrition for health and optimal performance, that I was going to design a complimentary nutritional plan for him, and will re-connect him with Catherine who I know will be pleased to do her part to help this great soul. What started as a very stressful event after one very busy week, ended up being a true blessing, as not only have I gained a trusted mechanic, but little does he know that he has re-inspired me to crank up my training to a brand new level.
