Off to Sydney tomorrow, to talk with the Australian left about social justice, intergenerational mobility and predistribution, at the Chifley Research Centres Progressive Australia conference this coming weekend. As an outsider, Id appreciate any recommendations for inflight reading to get myself up to speed on the peculiarities of current Australian politics. (One thing about which Im puzzled is why a country thats had an asset-boom, and isnt under anything like European levels of fiscal constraint, has an attitude to public spending thats quite so European...).
