Officer Slaps Man Who Wont Allow Search A 27-year veteran county sheriff in Saratoga County, New York has been suspended after a video emerged online last week appearing to capture him slapping and verbally abusing a young man. The incident was filmed by the young mans friend, during which the officer demands to enter and search the unidentified mans car, which according to the Albany Times-Union newspaper contained a rifle on the backseat. In the video, Sgt. Shawn R. Glans threatens to get a f------ search warrant, but with no warrant in hand goes on to demand Let me see your f------ keys ... because were searching your f------ car, thats why. Glans, who is under suspension, defended his actions but expressed regrets that they were caught on camera. There was a gun that was involved [that] I spotted in the vehicle ... I was concerned. It was a public safety issue, he said. If I had to do it all over again ... Id probably do the same thing. If I knew the camera was there, no, because it does look bad. This officer needs to be fired. There is no excuse for slapping a member of the public under these circumstances. Do your job. Get a warrant. This officer should be charged with assault, communicating threats, arrested and tried. Also lets not forget he should be fired. Id press charges if I was the young man but then Id have to move out of the area probably the state and change my name. I have actually witnessed incidents like this over the years. Far too often police turn to threats and intimidation. Politicians, police, public officials and bureaucrats need be reminded regularly that they are public servants.. Too often these officials attempt to remind taxpayers erroneously that we are the public servants https://youtube/watch?v=_NA_N9LE2Gc
