Officers injured, Acacia Ridge Two officers were injured and treated at hospital after they were struck by a vehicle at Acacia Ridge last night. It will be alleged that police intercepted a stolen car containing two males on Wakely Street around 10.15pm. As a female constable approached the car it reversed back knocking her over and trapping her between the door and the vehicle. She was dragged approximately 20 metres before falling to the ground. A male constable- who was chasing the passenger after he had jumped out of the car when it was stopped- was also struck by the vehicle. Both officers were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, with the female officer sustaining a suspected spinal injury, cuts and abrasions. She remains in hospital. The male officer was treated for cuts and abrasions and has since been released. The vehicle sped off before stopping in nearby Dallow Street where the male driver fled on foot. Police Dog Tank and his handler located the man hiding underneath a house in Wakely Street. The man sustained a bite to his arm when he attempted to flee again. He too was treated at the Princess Alexandra Hospital before being released. Police have charged a 17-year-old Margate man with seven offences including two counts of acts intended to prevent lawful arrest, and one count each of burglary, enter premises and commit an indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle used for an indictable offence and unlicensed driving. He is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court today. A 16-year-old boy was also charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act.
