Official opinion time. Ok, so this whole Cliven Bundy thing - TopicsExpress

Official opinion time. Ok, so this whole Cliven Bundy thing is surprisingly turning into a pretty huge mess. I read about this kind of stuff a lot and NEVER see report on it in the mainstream. Either way, heres what I see. The guys family had been legally grazing cattle on County owned (NOT Federal) property for like a century or something. The Federal government comes in and declares this land to be an area where its illegal to graze (the reason why is immaterial). The local County still owns the land, though. And the county relies on its home state for some protection. States have rights, and thats a good thing. The reason why gay people can get married right now is because of states rights. The reason why Cannabis is legal in Washington and Colorado is because of states rights. We need States rights to protect us locally from poor, unconstitutional federal legislation and bureaucracy. Permits to graze are paid to the Federal Bureau of Land Management, as they manage publicly owned land. When they came in and declared this land a no-graze area, Cliven simply didnt listen, because he understood that the FEDERAL government has zero legal authority to control land it doesnt own, and this was not Federal land. They obviously refused to renew his permit, which is why he hasnt paid it. This seems pretty clear to me, assuming that my facts are correct at least. The Feds need to back off. Also, I saw a great quote today about how the same government that detonates hundreds of nukes in Nevada desert is trying to save a tortoise by preventing cattle grazing. Yeah?
