Officials said the Dalton Fire Department and police department responded to the building at 629 S. Hamilton St., getting the fire under control by 10 a.m. There were no injuries, but the building was heavily damaged. Spokesman Bruce Frazier said the fire department is investigating the fire and doesn’t yet know what started it. “The building, which was vacant, had just been leased over the weekend by new business owners who were going to open a new restaurant there,” Frazier said.
