Ofoegbu Cautions IMC, Stakeholders -Raises Concern Over Security By Bibian Onwugbolu, Port Harcourt Former Rangers International Football Club of Enugu Ifeanyi Ofoegbu has called on the IMC to drive a means of putting an end any violence that would lead to threaten of lives of both the players and its officials in the Nigeria Football League. In a brief chat with SportsDay in port Harcourt over the weekend, Ofoegbu condemned the idea of football club fans threating the lives of their coaches and players if a match is been lost at their home ground. According to him, the IMC has done their best to ensure good football development in the country, stressing that the area of security should be treated with urgency. He further suggested that the IMC would afford to put more measure in the area of security at every games as well instruct club managements to create its own local securities that would assist those forces in uniform to protect those lives at stake during any league match. “What I am trying to explain here is very easy and important, security is very important in anything we do in life and football is not in exceptional. “This issue of threatening official, coaches and players anytime a team lose a match at home or away is not necessary, violence is bad in football because people should see football is fun and game and not an avenue of creating problems. “If you seek my option here, I think it’s important and necessary for clubs to have their own local securities apart from the police, because in a state like Rivers, fans respect their indigenous security than the uniform men. “If we have those local men on ground with enough uniformed men in every home matches and team lost a game, these men will be able to protect the lives of those involved,” he stressed.
