Ogbodo: Shine Your Eyes Bros, Buhari Is Coming I HAIL o bros. I do not want to talk like many others who say nothing good has come out of your presidency. My annoyance is that even our own people from Warri, Yenagoa, PH, Calabar, Uyo and Benin are joining others to say this rubbish. Na God go judge them. I do not know where the problem really lies. Maybe you are not doing enough for people to see or you are not talking enough for people to hear enough about what you have done. Whichever, I am very worried about the state of things, especially with the emergence of Muhammadu Buhari as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the next presidential election. This same man had aborted democracy on the last day of 1983, but he has since transformed into a democrat and some people are saying he is strong enough to terminate your tenancy at Aso Rock next May. Those around Buhari are already sounding like an oracle. One of the governors from the Boko Haram enclave told me that they (people in the APC) are waiting anxiously to retire you to Otuoeke, where you can function maximally as ‘a village head.’ Can you imagine that kind of insult? Anyway, this is not going to be your portion in Jesus Mighty name, Amen! I want you to enjoy full measure like others before you. Baba Olusegun Obasanjo had his eight years and had even asked for more like Oliver Twist; and we all know that Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua would have had his full cup if he had not died. Why should yours be different? Is it because you are an Ijaw man from the Niger Delta? By thunder, by fire, you shall earn your full blessings in Jesus name, amen! Somehow, the APC is able to make so much noise about nothing but the PDP and specifically the Presidency is not even able to make any noise about something. What is happening now bros? Are you not the President again? See bros, you know say we nor dey carry last. If you do anyhow, you go see anyhow! You hear me so! If you allow this Buhari man to sack you from Aso Rock just like that, don’t just think of returning home on May 29, 2015. It will be in your best interest to leave Abuja for Daura in Katsina State for assylum. All the same, I could feel some real attempt at taking charge for the first time last week. One of your spokesmen went to town to tear to shreds the hitherto unassailable credentials of General Buhari. He said poverty which Buhari has been promoting as a virtue even at age 72 is actually a vice and same shall count against the retired general in the real battle ahead. Your man stopped short of saying the race is for the rich only and paupers like Buhari should stay off the tracks. Good point! You mean your camp could hit hard like this, yet you had fooled around and allowed one Lai Mohammed, or what is he called, to drum and dance in the public square unchallenged all this while. Your man would have done a little more to strike a compelling distinction between you and Buhari. If poverty, bohemianism and material stagnation are Buhari’s unique selling points, yours should derive entirely from the opposite elements. You have attained the extraordinary feat of coming from nowhere; the village boy without school sandals back in Otuoke, to becoming the president of Nigeria. All of that can be compressed into a captivating campaign slogan to underscore the reductionist essence of your opponent. Something like this: ‘Buhari is a down turn from presidency to poverty, while Jonathan is an upswing from poverty to presidency.’ How about that Big Bros? You go pay me O! Let me quickly add that we are already in injury time and every action, statement and move should add value. The season of talking anyhow is over. For instance, I don’t expect an Olusegun Aganga at this critical time to keep talking about building 20 auto assembly plants in Nigeria without basis. I am saying this because anything you or your agents say or do now will be held against you on February 14, 2015. Is Aganga God? It is only God that can create something from nothing and can say ‘let there be 20 assembly plants in Nigeria and there will be 20 assembly plants.’ You should also warn Aunty Ngo who is coordinating the economy (some have added the polity) on behalf of all of us to maintain good levels. Sincerely, I don’t understand the kind of economics you people practise in Aso Rock. Are you the one that asked her to predicate the 2015 budget on a bench mark price of $65 per barrel of oil? As at last Wednesday when she presented the budget to the National Assembly, price of oil was $55 per barrel and still plunging. What kind of optimism is this now? From where is she going to source the shortfall to finance the budget? Oh, you people want to coordinate the economy and by extension our lives on speculation? Anyway, just be careful with this over sabi woman in this period of great trials. Bros, what is this comparison between you and Obama, Mandela, Martin Luther King and Lee Kuan Yew all about? You are big bros, the son of a fisherman from Otuoeke and by the Grace of God, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. No shaking bros, nothing dey happen! You should remain within your character definitions and stop these overzealous handlers from dragging you into serious identity crisis. You are a different breed in a different setting and doing a different thing called Transformation Agenda to create a difference, no matter how small, in the lives of a different people. Short and simple! In fact, bros, it is time for serious strategy and less of buffonlery. The PDP primaries across the country are creating both primary and secondary problems. In Delta State for instance, Bros Emma; I am talking of Governor Uduaghan, is not happy. It is alleged that some forces under your command in Abuja were unleashed to box him into an underdog in a game he should have called the shots as champion. This is not fair O! There is God O! Governors Martins Elechi and Sullivan Chime of Ebonyi and Enugu States were said to have suffered serious injuries too. The story in town is that party big wigs and other members of the PDP family who suffered bruises during the primaries to pick candidates for the general elections are nursing their pains in stoic silence and waiting for a good time to extract their pound of flesh. No other time is better than February 14, 2015. It is a day to show love but I fear a whole lot of folks shall spill bile instead of milk on that day. I don’t know the joker you are holding close to your chest sha, but for now, I can’t see any against the planned onslaught of the APC. In case you are not aware, know now that the days of the invincibility of the PDP are almost gone. That lofty dream of a 60-year unbroken dominance of the political space by the party is no longer sustainable in the current circumstances. I do not know how well to present this point to make myself clearer. I wish I could do a bit of the Ogbia dialect of the Ijaw language to help the explanation. Bros, what I’m saying is that the times are getting increasingly unpredictable and we cannot continue to survive on good luck alone. Even your Niger Delta House is not in perfect order. Don’t be deceived by these Pentecostal chanting of Urhobo scatter! Urbobo scatter! Urhobo scatter! Far from it, the Urhobos are not scattered anywhere. They only had small gbege with their Itsekiri neighbours and the matter has since been amicably settled. I am an Urhobo and I can tell you on good authority that the Urhobos are angry and united against you in 2015 for reasons you already know about. Finally bros, you need to call Sis Pat to order. She nor dey try at all; she too dey fall your hand! Get her fast behind the frontlines because the battle is getting too rough and complex for her continued participation. No doubt, Paale, I mean Chief E.K Clark, has run a good race like Apostle Paul. He can retire gracefully from the field for good. The rest of us can combine forces to finish whatever that is outstanding.
