Oh friends, I am facing the hardest decision of my life, the only - TopicsExpress

Oh friends, I am facing the hardest decision of my life, the only life and death decision Ive ever had to make. As you know, I have had colon cancer surgery, and my oncologist, the distinguished Professor David Ross en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Kerr_%28oncologist%29 said that as far as they know all the cancer has been removed. no metastases, no proof there is cancer left. However, sadly, 45% of the lymph nodes removed tested positive for cancer. So my overall 5 year survival will be increased, and my odds of the cancer returning will be dramatically reduced if I have chemotherapy. That is what the oncologists are recommending. I am so out of my depth. I did English at Oxford, and know little about medicine, so I am tempted to go with the opinion of the professionals. Prof. David Kerr has researched colorectal cancer for 20 years. I have researched it for less than 20 hours! So, I guess, unless a bolt of lightning strikes, I will be having the recommended chemotherapy next month. Given the ages of my children, and my love of life, it may well make sense. Please could you pray that I make the right decision. I have till Jan 16th to make it. This is absolutely my last cancer post before Christmas. Hate writing cancer posts. Would rather write about Jesus :-) Happy Christmas, friends, and thank you for support and prayers through this thoroughly unexpected detour!
