Ohhh Dear Makererians!!! why has the concept of personal responsibility greatly eroded in our great institution? Too many of us today believe they are helpless victims of the circumstances. This is evidenced by how students continue to go about their business, comfortably and peacefully, despite the many injustices going on in Makerere. Its almost like people have accepted their condition of being constantly oppressed. Should i say they have lost hope? Should we wait for someone to come and save us? Mayb there is a SUPERMAN or RAMBO coming to save us? Have we gone as low as fantasizing now? As student we have been left to fiend for ourselves, it is only us who know what we go through so dont expect someone from outside to come and understand you more than you understand yourself. It is only the poor who know what being poor really means. So we must make the people responsible for us know that we are not comfortable with how we are being managed. We must tell them how unhappy we are. We must be the generation which refused to accept their condition in life and instead chose a different and more extra-ordinary path for themselves. The one which set on a journey for greatness and proceeded to work without rest until their goals became a reality. It doesnt matter who you are, where youre from, who your parents are, how much money you have. Our problems affect us as a whole. Let it be conjestion of classes or unhygenic toilets, we all face the same lot. The difference is in your willingness to do whatever it takes to make yourself and your community better and to fight to achieve your dreams. Being silent and acting comfortable will not solve your problems, it only prolongs them to the next day and we all know that the longer you keep an illness, the worse it gets. We have to stand now and say, enough is enough Thats what am doing and you too can be part of it. We have to fight for the betterment of our great institution. We build for the future and the struggle continues. REMEMBER: we cannot keep doing the same things and expect different results so if our mode of striking has failed to yeild fruitful results, mayb its high time we started something new. ALSO: When solving our problems, we cant use the same thinking we used, while creating them. MOST IMPORTANTLY: We either heal as a team, or We die as individuals. PRAYER: May the Almighty Father Bless and Guide us in this struggle.
